TL 9000


TL 9000 is a quality management practice designed by the QuEST Forum in 1998. Its focus is on supply chain directives throughout the international telecommunications industry including USA. Telecom manufacturers and suppliers who are engaged in the design, development, production, delivery, installation, and maintenance of telecommunications products and services apply TL 9000 quality management system. TL 9000 is defined by the two documents- TL 9000 Requirements Handbook, at release 5.5, which includes the full text of ISO 9001:2008 and TL 9000 Measurement Handbook, at release 5.0.

  4. The TL 9000 metrics common to all industry sectors.
  5. The industry sector metrics (in other words, hardware, software, & services)

TL 9000 is the only quality standard that requires metrics to be collected so that a company can benchmark its performance for improvement. It represents conformance to a telecommunications-specific set of requirements based on ISO 9000. The certification of this standard removes the requirement for multiple telecom quality management standards, cost of doing business is reduced and consumers get better products and services. Consistent set of quality expectations are also provided which are needed to drive efficiency and performance across the global telecommunication supply chain.
